Brave New World Cast
It’s tempting (and understandable) to always want to be happy. However, brave New World, an upcoming new Peacock series based on Aldous Huxley’s incestuous novel, offers a glimpse into a society where everyone has to be happy, like it or not. It’s subtle and insidious control. It’s not that people aren’t allow to feel dissent or have independent thoughts, it’s that they’re too happy to even consider the possibility.
While it may seem perfect on the surface, new London society is not the way to live, and for the actors task with playing characters who are suppose to be nothing but happy thought, It’s a little hard to let go of their own feelings.
“When I feel something, I feel it.” I can’t hide it. In real life, I’m like that,” Jessica Brown Findlay told SYFY WIRE during brave New World’s virtual press conference. Brown Findlay plays Lenina Crowne, a “Beta+”, a high-ranking member of New London’s caste society.
Embryos are form and sort, people joyfully work at their assign positions, and monogamy, money, religion, and other difficult notions are banned. However, Lenina feels something is missing – and there’s no amount of Soma, a mood-modifying drug every citizen uses like Tic Tacs, that can fill the void she’s completely unable to identify. Okay. Basically, Lenina felt the emotional tug that ordinary people like Brown Findlay – always felt.
“I naturally want to react to something or feel embarrassed, and they don’t feel embarrassed in the same way,” Brown Findlay said of Lenina and her colleagues. “There are emotions and complexities that we can’t even have, we don’t even have the words to describe them.
